About Pearl Button Bridal
Pearl Button Bridal Couture is an ethical and sustainable bridal studio. The studio where all the making is done is near Milton on the South Coast of NSW. Fittings and consultations happen at our address in Lewisham.
Dinah started Pearl Button to address the need for alternative bridal wear that is ethical and sustainable. When you think about it a wear once dress is really not the thing anymore. Design for reuse starts on the drawing board. We also create contemporary bridal wear from vintage and antique pieces by restoring and remodelling them. About Dinah Mitchell
Dinah is the founder and designer at Pearl Button Bridal.
For over three decades, Dinah has kept alive the delicate and labour-intensive craft of the true couturier. Her design sensibilities spring from her love of nature, historical costume, old movies and literature. Some of her influencers include thinkers such as Victor Papanek and Vandana Shiva.
With a Master in Design, a Bachelors in Fashion and Textile Design and a Dip Ed, Dinah has been an influential educator in sustainable fashion design at both secondary and tertiary level. This has fuelled her deep passion for educating today’s bride on an ethical and sustainable wedding dress.
Dinah was one of the pioneers in sustainable fashion thinking in Australia. She is passionate about slow fashion and believes clothing should be designed to last and be treasured. She is also a co-founder of Slow Fashion South, that support sustainable fashion design and education on the South Coast.
